There are two lots one facing south side of K Street (no structures) and one facing north side of J Street which were once owned by A. Dalton (who was the publisher of the local paper and who also ran a wood and coal business).
A lithograph of 1885 shows an inset of the home of A. Dalton with a stable house behind it. If you stood on J Street and looked up at the house on this lot (in 1986) the one there looked similar to the old Dalton place, minus the chimney. (Lithograph is unavailable)
The house was there when St. Mary's of the Pacific burned in 4/30/1915 (per Benicia Sentinel Fire Issue, p. 5 article by Charlene Irwin).
A 1958 photograph used for tax survey/assessment purposes shows two structures.Collection
