Guard House Building 39 built in 1872. Used as a guard house and engine house. Ulysses S. Grant was never held here.
Label is has misinformation but reads: "The building shown in the photograph is the third guard house built on the Benicia Arsenal grounds. The first of such buildings, constructed in 1852, provided temporary quarters for Ulysses S. Grant when he was tried and found guilty of a minor infraction of military regulations." B/W photo. On back: "Wm. Brooks Dublin, M.D.-- Veterans Admin. Med. Center-- Martinez, CA 94553". Originally framed in dark brown wood under glass.Collection
