The locomotive is a 3001 Class A-1 steam engine built by Baldwin Locomotive Company, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in August 1902. It was serial number 20795 and operated by the Southern Pacific Railroad. It was retired on December 31, 1924, and scrapped at West Oakland on August 21, 1926.
