Zenith Model H500 TransOceanic Radio, "Wave Magnet"; serial number L190230
Black case; the front lifts up and sets on top; the face of the tuning dial is greenish with a gold bezel; there are seven buttons on the right; the speaker is on the left; two knobs are in the lower center: the right knob is the tuner, it moves the needle to the various channels, the left knob turns the radio on and off; below the knobs are four red switches for fine tuning the reception. The back folds down to expose the tubes and wires; the cord to connect to AC power has access through a hole in the back.
There is an extra battery, as the radio can operate on battery power as well as AC power. The battery is an Eveready "Mini Max", Radio "B" Battery, No. 490, 90 volts and was manufactured by Union Carbide.

This model was introduced in 1951 with a basic dial design that would last 11 years, until Zenith stopped making tube-powered TransOceanics in 1962.Collection
