Scope and Content

This is a group of records and correspondance from/to the Benicia Planning Commission during the period 1944 thru 1947. The documents appear to be copies of the originals. Some of the topics included are: 1 suggestion to rename the "Military Highway (now "M" St.) to W.L. Crooks Blvd. Also renaming the City Park after former mayor Crooks. 2. Adoption of an unsafe appliance ordinance 3. A list of businesses in Benecia (sic) as of January, 1945. 4. Adoption of Uniform Business codes for building, plumbing, electrical and gas installations. 5. Building a new Veteran's building. 6. Review of sewage treatment in Benicia. 7. Review of the zoning violation due to a "farm" within the City limits. 8. Appointment of a secretary of the City Planning Commission at a salary of $10.00 per month. 9. Proposal to prepare a City Plan, Public Works Plan, and Industrial Survey for Benicia.
