Scope and Content

This is a scrapbook kept by Vera Parker. Her family owned a furniture store on First Street Benicia. The album contains local items of interest around 1900-1920. Many of the items are home help type items. Other articles such as: 06/29/1901 Benicia High School graduation of Dorothea M W Dekau / Florence L. Parker / Helen Singler. The embezzlement case of Charles F. Baker of the Crocker Bank in Oakland. The attempted murder case of Charles Durner who shot Thomas McKay in Benicia. Many marriage announcements throughout Solano county. An obituary of General Grant, Henry Clay, James Marshall, Oliver Wendell Holmes, L.B. Mizner etc.. A portrait of Emilie Gnauck and her singing talent. Many reports of weddings, births, and deaths of Parker family members.
