This is a tintype of Charlie Hank. The tintype has been cut to fit into a cardboard frame. The photo is of a man with a large mustache and a flower in his lapel. The photo in an envelope stamped by the Benicia Public Library.
This is probably Charles Augustus Hank born 1863 in Texas but living in Benicia by 1880 census. His parents are John and Catherine from Germany and the father was a baker. Charlie married Minerva E Simmonds around 1890 and had three children. They are Gladys E (1891-1981), Vera E. (1890 - ) and Elmer (1894). We have aphoto of Vera (in an 1899 school photo. We have a photo of Gladys (2014.011.0126.6) from a photo album.Collection
