Bendix Bldg. Garage 1929 Donated by Steve Hirsh Its opal-glass lettering alone makes this sign a valuable one, but the period-specific bonuses of rippled tin construction and decorative, metal trim only add to the sign’s aesthetic and technical merit. This Art Deco-era sign and its twin welcomed guests to park at downtown Los Angeles’ Bendix Building on 12th Street and Maple. The Museum of Neon Art worked with owner Steve Hirsh to replicate these gems with sturdier replacements. The two, original “Bendix Bldg. Garage” signs are now safe from the elements (and pigeons) at the Museum of Neon Art.
