Zinke’s Shoe Repair 1941 Donated by the owners of Zinke's Shoe Repair: Joseph Zinke, Jeffrey Hobson, and Miguel Ramirez The 1950s gave America some amazing neon signs and the long, porcelain enamel face of the Glendale Zinke’s Shoe Repairs sign is among Southern California’s remaining jewels. The hammer is animated, of course, and slaps down on a woman’s high heel. What may be the most unique aspect of the sign is the glass itself that features a bit of very rare uranium glass to add an extra glow.
