Description

Sheila Kaufman Fund developed by the New York Community Trust to memorialize Sheila Kaufman, a public relations executive and one of the founding members of WEPR (Women Executives in Public Relations).

Context

The New York Community Trust is a community foundation that helps New Yorkers achieve their charitable goals and developing grants that respond to the needs of the city. The foundation honored the life and legacy of Sheila Kaufman, one of the first women to enter the public relations industry. Kaufman was a part of the board of directors for WEPR. Kaufman's husband Bob became a director of The New York Community Trust in 1986 and Sheila alongside her husband funded numerous charitable organizations, ranging from the homeless to education.
