A speech given by Arthur W. Page at the General Plant Conference in October of 1928.

Context

Arthur W. Page was Vice President and Director of AT&T and is sometimes referred to as "the father of corporate public relations". In this speech, Page discusses the "social contract" that the Bell System has with the public and how efficient businesses follow standards of conduct and a correct course of action. Page went onto to define "The Bell Philosophy", which focuses on providing exceptional public service opposed to being greedy and less slothful
