Garza graduated from Edinburg High School in 1942 and went immediately to nursing school at the McAllen Municipal Hospital, graduating in 1945. According to family members, she was one of only five women in her graduating class from the hospital. After graduation she continued working at the McAllen hospital, and she was subsequently a nurse at Grandview Hospital in Edinburg, a school nurse in the La Joya and Edinburg districts for more than 20 years, and a visiting nurse.Collection
