Materials related to the career of Melissa Dotson Betts. Melissa Betts was a teacher assigned to the "colored school" in Edinburg starting in 1935. She went on to have a 32 year career with the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District. She was the only staff member to work at the Carver School. Betts Elementary in Edinburg was named in honor of this dedicated educator.
