Saint Mary prayer card. Reverse:
"As soon as Mary had conceived the Verb within her bosom, she started and quickly went to the land of the mountains of Juda, to visit her cousin Elizabeth. When one is filled with the presence of Jesus Christ, one is filled also with charity, holy eagerness, fine sentiments, and there is no languor in accomplishment. Speak, Mary! make known to us thy sentiments : possessing thy God, what must have been thy de light, thy rejoicing, thy peace, thy triumph! "My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoiceth in God mt Saviour, for He hath regarded the lowliness of his handmaiden;" there is in God a glance of kindness and mercy : he casts it on penitent souls to comfort and encourage them to return to Him. But God has also, for the just, a glance of favour and kindliness, of defense and protection. Ah! what an impression it must make on their heart, that tender, loving glance of God. It is that which fills Mary with joy and admiration : "He remembered the promise He hath made to Abraham and his seed." Let us yield ourselves up to those promises of blessings, to those glad expectations, and let us drown therein all the deceptive hopes with which the world entices us. Let us join in the holy canticle where Mary sings of our future deliverance ; let us sing of her happiness and ours, and with St Ambrose let us say : "May Mary's soul be within us to glorify the Lord ; may the spirit of Mary be in us that we may be filled with joy in God our Saviour." Bossubt. Boumard Fils.
Obverse: MAGNIFICAT ! "My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour." Made in France. L. Annould.Context
