Description

Six aluminum cans for drinking water. At time of donations, cans held as a six-pack in original plastic ring holder. Contents of water removed after donation. Each 12 ounce, silver-colored can bears blue-black printing including, "Drinking Water / (Not for Sale) / Donated by / Anheuser-Busch, Inc., / Jacksonville, FL 32229." Anheuser-Busch, Inc. donated canned water as part of relief efforts for the lower Rio Grande Valley after Hurricane Dolly (July 23, 2008). The County of Hidalgo received 20,000 cases, each containing four six-packs (twenty four cans), for distribution. County employees and volunteers delivered the cases by trucks, primarily to households in the colonias around the San Carlos area. Typically, each house received two cases. See 2011-01-28 article in donor file on impact of Dolly on colonias.
