A series of six of candid photographs of the Palestinian people taken by one of the most famous American magazines, LIFE. Without a clear archival record identifying the individuals photographed, the portraits provide a rare glimpse into the lives of the Palestinian people through the American photographic lens--one that does not depict them as a Biblical people. During the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the Palestinian people were most often photographed within a Biblified lens. Biblification, a term coined by Issam Nassar, highlighted the ancient Biblical past, effectively erasing the modern social life of the Palestinian people. Images of 'Holy Land' landscapes constructed a vision of an empty and ancient land, filled with ghosts of a Biblical past.
