Zeina Azzam is a Palestinian-American poet, writer, editor, and community activist. After her family fled Palestine during al Nakba, Azzam was born in Syria and eventually immigrated to the United States when she was ten years old. Azzam is most well known for her award-winning poetry, as well as her chapbook, Bayna Bayna, In-Between (2021), which was nominated for the Pushcart Prize. A long-time advocate for Palestinian human rights, Azzam has for decades worked in leadership roles at leading Palestinian organizations now serving as the Poet Laureate of the City of Alexandria, Virginia (2022 - 2025), for her outstanding achievements in the literary arts. Azzam holds two Masters degrees: one in Arabic literature from Georgetown University, and another in sociology from George Mason University.Collection
