Place Description

A historic Palestinian coastal city and major Mediterranean port, situated on a natural bay and connected to the surrounding Galilee by roads and maritime routes. Its economy included maritime trade, commerce, fishing, agriculture in the surrounding lands, and processing and exchange of agricultural goods from the northern coastal plain and Galilee.
