Ramallah Region (رام الله)

Place Name

Ramallah Region (رام الله)

Place Description

The Ramallah region of Palestine is situated in the central highlands of the West Bank, north of Jerusalem, across a landscape of limestone ridges, valleys, and terraced slopes, with Ramallah city as its capital urban center. Following the 1948 al-Nakba, the region came under Jordanian rule; after the June 1967 War, it was captured by Israel and has remained under illegal military occupation ever since. Across the region, the agricultural landscape supports rain-fed grain cultivation, olive groves, vineyards, figs, almonds, and other fruit orchards, with terraced hillsides, springs, and cisterns supporting cultivation across the upland terrain.
