Place Name
Ramallah Region (رام الله)Place Description
The Ramallah region of Palestine is situated in the central highlands of the West Bank, north of Jerusalem, across a landscape of limestone ridges, valleys, and terraced slopes, with Ramallah city as its capital urban center. Following the 1948 al-Nakba, the region came under Jordanian rule; after the June 1967 War, it was captured by Israel and has remained under illegal military occupation ever since. Across the region, the agricultural landscape supports rain-fed grain cultivation, olive groves, vineyards, figs, almonds, and other fruit orchards, with terraced hillsides, springs, and cisterns supporting cultivation across the upland terrain. Also Known As
