Place Description

A historic Palestinian locality built around the ruins of a Crusader fortress on a hilltop overlooking the Mediterranean, with Wadi Jiddin passing through wooded land immediately to the south. The Arab al-Suwaytat lived in the ruined fortress and practiced animal husbandry, while cultivating small plots of barley and tobacco; only 22 dunums were recorded for these crops in 1944/45.
