Place Description

A historic Palestinian village in the Gaza subdistrict, not the Acre subdistrict, situated on a slight elevation along a wadi and at an important road junction linking the southern coastal plain with the Jerusalem–Jaffa road. Its agricultural economy was exceptionally productive, with cereals, citrus, bananas, vegetables, and fruit, including 10,803 dunums of cereals, 1,360 dunums of citrus and bananas, and 931 dunums of irrigated or orchard land in 1944/45.
