Description

“Posters for Gaza” Exhibit, Zawyeh Gallery (2024) 42 x 30 cm Fine Art archival paper, 230 gsm Issam Al-Haj Ibrahim, born in the UAE in 1982, is a Palestinian artist with a natural talent for creativity. His artistic journey began at a young age, leading to exhibitions and recognition in countries like the UAE, Lebanon, and Kuwait. Supported by his father, Issam’s artistry blossomed, and he collaborated in exhibitions across GCC countries, India, and Lebanon. The Orange Tree was part of the “Posters for Gaza” Exhibit, which brought together twenty-six artists to raise their voices through art, creating a series of posters produced specifically for this show. The posters shed light on the ethnic cleansing and horrific massacres taking place in the Gaza Strip - possibly the worst in modern history - demanding the recognition of Palestinian rights to live freely on their land with dignity. The orange tree wrapped in a Kufiyah presents a strong image of remembrance and resilience for Ibrahim. “I constantly envision the Palestinian Kufiyah as a symbol of the resilience and fragrance of the land, representing an unwavering group of Palestinian people united by a common ambition – the pursuit of dignity and freedom.” Representing a long tradition in Palestinian history, political posters were produced extensively in the seventies and the eighties by the Palestinian Liberation Organization with the contribution of Palestinian, Arab, and international artists. Posters played a crucial role in supporting the justice of the Palestinian cause and promoting it globally guided by the freedom, dignity, resilience, and the ongoing aspiration for independence, sought by Palestinians.
