Swallows signify home, belonging, love and loyalty. I wore this tie pin on the day I got married and on the day of my mum’s funeral. I have always been loved and had a safe home with my family. And now I have a family of my own. I know that is a privilege. But I was in my mid 30s before I found people who I could see as my future, people I could look like as I get old. Successful people. I remember first seeing The Drakes, wide eyed, fast beating heart. I felt home. I felt like I belonged. I am finally the in-between I have always been.
