Alexandria Hotel later known as the Plaza HotelEntry/Object ID
2013.2.313Description
Designed by architect William H. Corlett and built in 1910 this is a black and white photograph of the Alexandria Hotel in Napa. The building was located at 840-844 Brown Street. It was renamed the Plaza Hotel in 1918.
The annex is older than the hotel and was redesigned to match the hotel when the hotel was built.
According to the National Register of Historic Places nomination, Corlett's design for the building combined elements of the Mission Revival style and Mediterranean Revival style, both of which were popular in California in the early 20th century. However, the architectural style is primarily Italianate, especially the fenestration which incorporates Palladian windows.
