Bryant House; A History of 1301 Jefferson St. Napa Written by Mary O'Rourke in 1981 while a student in Charles Otto's Napa Valley history class. This manuscript gives a history of Bryant House, which in 2011 was the Napa Valley Bed and Breakfast. It begins with an early history of Napa and the land that the house was eventually built on. The manuscript lists the landowners from the Mexican Government (1836) to W. Bratten (1981). There are details on the construction of the house and descriptions of the interior and exterior. In 1921 the house was purchased by Edward and Emma Bryant. Details of the Bryant Family and their business, "Bryant's" ice cream parlor. The Bryant's daughter Dorothy gives detailed memories of the house back to 1921. The text ends with a description of the restoration in 1981, and the transition to Napa Valley Bed and Breakfast. The last pages of the manuscript include a copy of the original grant from 1836, an local map, a bibliography, and a few copies of photographs (grainy), and an additional page of text. An index, prepared at NCHS, has been included. In 2019 the property was called Cabernet House.
