Collapsed remains of the Valencia Street HotelEntry/Object ID
2015.39.25Description
Photograph of the Valencia Street Hotel at 718 Valencia Street between 18th and 19th Streets after the 1906 earthquake. The hotel collapsed when the ground liquified underneath it, which also broke two water mains on the street, blocking the use of fire hydrants in much of downtown San Francisco.
Front of photo identifies the structure as H. Storm Hotel, but that name does not seem to be connected to the Valencia Street Hotel. On the back of the photo is the name L. E. Bowen.
