Photograph of H. Shwarz Co. Hardware Co. employee party.
Some people identified (left to right): "1st Henri Hoernle; 3rd Gil Zeimer; 5th person Max Shwarz; 6th seated Dave Shwarz; Vienop; Henry (undetermined); W.M. Shwarz."
Note attached to back: "The Ray T. Clark family came to Napa in early 1919. After brief employment in Young Hardware (Ross Berglund being Mr. Young's son-in law who talked Ray into moving to Napa) he was more happily employed by H. Shwarz Co. from 1920 until he was drowned in 1942. Every year the Shwarz brothers would give a dinner for their employees and present them with a year end bonus. Our family looked forward to this extra money as it meant we could buy something we had wanted for some time. During the depression the Shwarz business suffered like many others but they cut salaries rather that lay off any employee. I remember: Gal Zeimer - related to the Shwarz family through marriage - a talkative friendly man. Henry Hoernle - who went toi work as a boy and was then later the longest employed. W.M. (Bill) Shwarz - lived longer than his brothers. Max Shwarz - First to die - of a heart attack Father of Minnie, Helen and Henrietta (Greene). Dave Shwarz - most business like on the floor. Henry Veinop - worked in sheet metal until fire forced him to quit in the 1950s."
