Photograph taped to a piece of paper of the Monticello Dam site.
Text with photograph: "As early as 1906 proposals were being made to throw a dam across Putah Creek and create a vast reservoir in the Valley bounded by the volcanic ridges of the Coast Range. But it wasn't until postwar years in the late 1940's that the project made serious headway - over the vehement opposition of landowners and Napa County officials.
"After a 1951 bond issue to build a local dam upstream failed to pass, the Bureau of Reclamation - with a $47 million appropriation launched its Monticello Dam project."
