Description

A black and white photo of the Napa Fire Department in front of the Pioneer Bakery and Coffee House. A few people have been identified: Man with the helmet on is Bill Talley, a member of the Napa Hook and Ladder. He worked for Shuarz(?) Hardware. Man hanging on the pole is James "Jim" Hulbert, a member of the Napa Hook and Ladder. He worked in the Recorder's Office in the Court House. Man by Hulbert's side with dicer is Ed Kather, a butcher for Zollinger and Ercus and Mary Sampson Giusto's Uncle. Man sitting down by Kather with dicer, white tie, and cigarette in his mouth is Newt Trus, a brother-in-law of Henry Holmle(?) and employed at the Napa State Hospital. Man with his hands in his pockets wearing a fire helmet is Len Lockard, a member of the Napa Hook and Ladder. The young man with the dicer standing by the tall man with the helmet and hands in his pockets, on the right side of the picture is Ed Thompson, an employee of the Sawyer Tannery. Man with the straw hat is George Secord, constable, and also a member of the Napa Hook and Ladder. Location: PF 115
