Description

Black and white photograph of men standing on the stairs of the Napa County Courthouse. The back says, "Napa Area - World War I. Carr, William, in front of center flag. Carr, Lester, to left of flag. Brothers from Fly district, sons of Tom and Flora Carr" There is also a piece of paper attached to the back which reads, "This was the scene on the steps of the Napa County Courhouse Oct. 8, 1917, as a large contingent of young men assembled before heading for military services in World War I. The group included Raymond L. Prouty, William P. Egan, Norman Hansen, Verne Maxwell, Chan Richardson, Ed Kelton, Granville Swift, Nathan Coombs, Eugene Webber, Benjamin D. Postel, Theodore Grande, Ira Hein, George Nightwine, John Preston Knox, Louis Guisto, Henry Guidotti, Edward Polson, Clifford C. Harris, John Ratto, James Gardner, Julio Brovelli, F. R. Gans, C. J. Hughes, Clayton Knapp, Victor Solari, Myron C. Hobson, Michael Figuero, Ralph Linder, Banjamin McDonald, Guiseppe Peripoli and Victor Solari. After a special ceremony, the men departed for Camp (later Fort) Lewis in Washington for training." Location: O/S 2 PF# 1609
