Pop Hess has been hospitalized and is retiring from writing his regular column after more than 20 years; provides his new address at Box 66, Lakeview, Ohio 43331. - "Model A Brings $2,575" (p. 6) Reports on the farm retirement auction of bachelor brothers Henry, Jake, and Conrad Frick near Fort Morgan, Colorado, at which their 1928 Model A Ford Tudor sold for $2,575; the auction was conducted by C. "Ken" Reed and Joe Yearous. - "Contests A Highlight Of Montana Meeting" (p. 7) Reports on the 12th Annual Meeting and 9th Annual Auctioneers Contest of the Montana Auctioneers Association in Lewistown, March 30-31; Mike Coolidge won the merchandise division and Fritz Hoppe topped the livestock contest; Carl Westermark was elected president. - "Tennessee Auctioneers To Meet In Nashville" (p. 7) By Hubert D. Announcement of the Tennessee Auctioneers Association convention at the Hilton Airport Inn in Nashville, June 16-17, 1973, with an invitation to bring families to enjoy Opry Land. - "Washington Auctioneers Raise $10,000 For Deaf" (p. 7) Reports that members of the Washington State Auctioneers Association raised more than $10,000 in a five-hour benefit auction in Seattle for the benefit of the deaf, with two interpreters translating bids into sign language. - "Auctioneer Helps Start New Bank in Kentucky" (p. 7) Reports that Walton Haddix of Albany, Kentucky, a Nashville Auction School graduate, was granted a new bank charter and opened the Bank of Clinton County on April 2, 1973, where he will serve as a director alongside his Clearfork Realty Company work. - "Leroy Van Dyke to Lead Fete Following Contest" (p. 8) Reports that country and western star Leroy Van Dyke, who wrote the million-selling record "Auctioneer," will entertain at the 1973 World Livestock Auctioneer Championship announcement ceremony on June 23 in Norfolk, Nebraska, sponsored by the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce. - "Missouri Auctioneer Turns Entertainer" (pp. 18-19) Profiles Col. Roger A. Hollrah of St. Charles, Missouri, a 17-year veteran auctioneer who has developed a second career as a comedian and entertainer under the name "The Country Colonel," with his son Steven recently graduating from Missouri Auction School. - "John Cummins Celebrates 50 Years of Auctioneers" (pp. 20-21) By Thelma Taylor. M. Russell Museum in Great Falls, Montana, grossed $185,000, bringing the museum's total receipts from five auctions to over $100,000; all five auctions were conducted by Jack Raty of Fort Shaw, Montana. - "Western College of Auctioneering — Graduating Class" (p. 23) Caption and text identifying the March 1973 graduating class of Western College of Auctioneering, Billings, Montana, with names and home states of all students listed.
