In this issue:
Feature Articles:
p. 3 — "Add these members to your Directory": Continues February's list of NAA members left out of the 1982–83 directory, arranged by state. The magazine says the omissions came from computer and human error.
pp. 5–6 — "Ground breaking, construction announced for new headquarters" by NAA President Rex B. Newcom, CAI: Announces the March 15, 1983 ground breaking for the new NAA office in Overland Park, KS. Also covers the Board's January meeting (By-Laws amended to allow Associate and Affiliate members from July 1, 1983), the seminars, National Auctioneers Week and the Houston convention.
pp. 6–7 — "Headquarters Relocation Fund Report: Ground breaking ceremony March 15": Reports the ceremony site at Reeder Road and Ballentine Street, which the article says the land contributions already paid for. It gives the fund figures and lists plaque recognition tiers (VIP, Founders, Sponsors, and so on).
pp. 7, 9 — "State Associations respond to 'Chairs of States'": State associations giving $5,000 or more get an engraved chair in the new boardroom. Indiana, Oregon and Texas have paid in full, and 14 others have pledged.
p. 9 — "Do you know these auctioneers?": The NAA seeks a current address for William W. Morgan (Bluegrass Realty, Hopkinsville, KY). Otherwise he will be dropped from the mailing list.
pp. 14–15, 17 — "'Texas at its very best,' 1983 NAA Houston Convention": Hotel rates, reservation rules and a program-at-a-glance for July 27–30 at the Shamrock Hilton, with a reservation form. Sidebars on p. 17 announce Texas Auctioneers Association (TAA) committee chairs, restate who may attend, and ask members to fill out an attendance survey.
pp. 18–19, 21 — "Broadcast media, audio-visual now in advertising contest": Adds a ninth category (radio/TV commercials and audio-visual presentations) to the annual convention advertising contest. Gives entry rules and forms, a July 1, 1983 deadline, and presentation of awards on July 29.
p. 21 — "NAA Job Market": The tail of the members-only classified program ($8.75 per column inch plus a $10 typesetting fee), with sample ads. On the same page, "Advertising contest continued" lists categories b–i.
