Divinity Bowl

Description

Divination, particularly in the Ifa tradition, holds a significant role in many African cultures, including the Yoruba people of Nigeria. This practice serves to explain misfortunes and seek guidance to prevent them. The diviner, known as a Babalawo, consults the Orisha (deity) through a process involving sixteen palm nuts. These nuts are manipulated, forming patterns that are then interpreted by the diviner. The results are marked on a divination board sprinkled with wood dust, indicating verses from the Ifa literary corpus that offer guidance and solutions.
