Description
Letter written in black ink on mourning stationery with "LRG" initials at the top. The recently widowed Mrs. Garfield writes to the Hon. Ezra Booth Taylor of Cleveland, Chairman of the Committee to audit the expenses of President Garfield's assassination. She calls attention to the difference in wages for the male physician, Dr. Reyburn ($10,000) and the female physician, Dr. Edson ($5,000). Mrs. Garfield points out that Dr. Edson gave the "real service" and asks that this be adjusted.
