Description

Color postcard; the focal point of the postcard is a white man, in a plaid brown and black suit and a red vest, sweating and struggling to roller skate; the man is depicted to look out of place both by his disheveled clothes, in comparison to the figures, who are all white as well, in the background, as well as his struggle to roller skate and not fall; there is a garland of a multitude of countries' flags in the upper corner with the opposite corner having "Roller Skating" printed in black; near one of the man's legs is "O Lor! Where Am I Going?" in black print. On the back of the postcard is green print: "Post / Card. / This Space for Inland Colonial, and Certain Foreign Correspondence / Made in Gt. Britain. / The Address Only To Be Written Here" with there being a shield shape with a creature on top and " "National" Series." written within it as well, all in green print. Next to "Card." is a green and white postage stamp with the side profile of a man in the middle with a wreath wrapping around him and a crown on top of the oval, "Postage Avenue" is written at the top and "Half Penny" (possibly the price of the stamp) written at the bottom; over the top of the postage stamp is a black stamped circle with text in it that is illegible. There is a handwritten note, written in cursive, in black ink on the postcard: "Dear Willie (?), [two words] I will come and see you tomorrow afternoon (?) after 2 Cl (unable to make out rest of the word). Love from Matthew". On the other side is more cursive handwriting that is possibly indicating who this postcard is being sent to. Circa 1920s.
