Description

The front of the postcard is a reproduction of a trading card from 19th century. "The Champion" is in large, fun yellow and orange print at the top of the postcard with black flower designs around "The"; the background is a floor and wall all in a range of orange tinted tan colors. The figure depicted on the front is a young girl with pale skin and light colored hair; she is wearing a reddish pink hat with a black tassel, a pink dress with white lining around the edges, a blue flower brooch with green leaves, a golden colored badge that has a roller skate on it, tan gloves, pink stockings, black roller skating boots with golden tassels and the wheels are strapped over and onto the boot itself; the girl is holding a long stick that looks as if it could be a small whip(?); the wheels all have "Belding Bros & Co. / 10 / A / YDS" written on them; the girl has large feet and large shoes. Everything printed on the back of the postcard is in black: lower left-hand corner: "19th-century trading card. © 1985 Dover / Publications, Inc."; at the bottom, in the middle: "0-486-59802-0 / T.C.—Belding Thread"; down the middle, vertically: "Manufactured in the U.S.A. Dover Publications, Inc., 31 East 2nd Street, Mineola, N.Y. 11501". There is a postage stamp area in the upper right-hand corner.
