Account of the trip to Buffalo made by J.W. Packard and George L. Weiss on an automobile made by the New York & Ohio Company at Warren Ohio.
They departed Cleveland at 5AM and reached Buffalo before 9PM, or approx. 13 hours. Ashtabula was reached in 3 hours, and Erie in 6 hours. Average speed was between 18 and 22 mph.
The travelers were refused a room at a hotel in Buffalo, presumably due to their disheveled appearance. Horse carriage traffic complained about the "reckless behavior" of Motor Carriage drivers, and the author recommends care and politeness on the part of motorists to prevent use of force by local authorities.Collection
