Context

Hanging above the Neill-Cochran House Museum Front Parlor is a Georgian-style six-light chandelier made in England in the early 20th c. The chandelier features spiral-cut, S-shaped crystal arms, prismatic ropes and drops, and crystal acanthus leaf scrolls bursting from the top. The hardware is made of brass. Originally a gas fixture, this chandelier has been updated with electrical wiring that runs through the arms of the piece. Electric candles sit in the candle cups. This lovely chandelier previously hung in the Austin Women's Club (Chateau Bellevue). It was given to the Neill-Cochran House Museum by an unknown donor in 1967, during the early days of the NCHM as a museum. You can see it, and all of our sparkling artifacts, Wed-Sun 11-4pm.
