Chest of DrawersContext
On the east wall of the Cochran Girls' Bedroom stands a large walnut dresser supporting a rectangular mirror. This bedroom dresser dates from the 1880s and was made in America in the Renaissance Revival style.
The dresser consists of a walnut chest on a flat base with casters and has a white marble top above four long drawers fitted with wooden handles and round escutcheons. The mirror superstructure is walnut with a square crest rail and a central cartouche, with straight stiles ending in handkerchief boxes with hinged tops supporting a rectangular mirror.
This dresser belonged to the Cochran family and returned to the Neill-Cochran House Museum in 2007 as a gift from Mr. Kevin Zanella. You can see it, and all of our well dressed artifacts, Wed-Sun, 11-4pm.Acquisition
