Pillow, SouvenirContext
On a wicker armchair in the upstairs hallway of the Neill-Cochran House Museum sits a decorative pillow from the 1910s. This fringed New York City-themed silk souvenir pillow depicts the Metropolitan Building, the Woolworth Building, the Statue of Liberty, and the Brooklyn Bridge with the New York City skyline in the background.
As travel became easier due to improved transportation technology more and more Americans traveled the country and acquired commemorative souvenirs of their experiences.
This pillow was gifted to the Museum by Susan Spruance. You can see it, and all of our keepsakes and artifacts Wed-Sun, 11-4pm.Acquisition
