Black Applique Fan

Context

Black Appliqué Fan, c. 1930 14 in. This delicate but dramatic fan leaf is made of tulle, with stenciled stylized floral design and an appliqué large flower across the face. Green and pink sequins sparkle, adding additional light to the gilt stenciling. The guard sticks are likely celluloid, while the interior sticks are painted black wood. The original fan box is also on display. Neill-Cochran House Museum Collection, gift of Drane Haw.
