Cotton Printed StockingContext
Stocking hanging above the fireplace at Christmastime have been for centuries. The first mention of it in America was in Clement Moore's poem "A Visit from St. Nick." This vintage stocking from the early 1900s was homemade. A pattern was printed onto yards of fabric, and the stocking was likely cut and sewn at home. No doubt it once held Christmas goodies.Acquisition
