Description

"At the Nevada Mines Division smelter, a new approach to computer application was tested at the converter work center. An industrial engineer takes a reading from the automatic electric IBM typewriter data supplied by the IBM 1620 Data Processing System. Information gives results on the rate of iron sulphide being burned off, amount of copper sulphide being burned off and predicts the time for pouring slag and when 'finished' copper is ready to pour."
