Marching Band and Color GuardEntry/Object ID
2009-158Description
Photograph of a marching band and color guard leading a procession during Chappaqua's Bicentennial Parade, Sept 6th 1937. The band members, dressed in formal uniforms, carry and play various musical instruments while holding American flags. The street is lined with spectators dressed in period attire, many wearing hats, as they watch the parade with excitement. The storefronts in the background are adorned with patriotic bunting, and signs for local businesses such as "Greeley Realty," "Pinecliff," and "Drugs" are visible. Several vintage cars are parked along the road, adding to the historic charm of the event.
The photo was taken from the second floor of a building on what is now lower King Street, looking east toward the main intersection with Greeley Avenue. At top left is the Hyatt building, where Petticoat Lane (?) is now. At center right is a real estate office advertising properties in the recently opened subdivision of Pinecliff on Quaker Road.
