Photograph of airstrip and taxiways, Saipan, c.1940s
Black and white, written on back "partial view of air strip on taxiways we built. Saipan"
This photograph was brought back by New Castle resident Emil W. Burkhart from Saipan, when he was deployed there in the 1940s while serving with the U.S. Navy Seabees. The Seabees built military air facilities such as these in Saipan.
