"Dear Nellie, Was very glad to receive your card. I know you are too busy to write. Will be home about the first of July, and will see you often then. This house is up on the hill above where we live. Isn't it pretty? With love, Ella."
John Isaac Devoe Bristol (1845-1932) was an inventor, writer, and officer of the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company. In 1898, he bought the farm of Joseph M. Valentine on King Street, enlarged the farmhouse to a mansion of more than 10,000 square feet, and named the estate Antoria, from a native American word meaning "hill in the sky".
