Description

On March 13, 2011, paramedic Chris Bugelli rescued a suicidal man from a possible drowning, in Ottawa, Ontario. Dispatched to the scene, Mr. Bugelli arrived at the drainage ditch to find the man neck-deep in the water. Not wanting to frighten him, Mr. Bugelli remained at the water's edge and tried to coax him out. As the man's head slipped beneath the surface, Mr. Bugelli waded in and made his way towards him. Despite being hindered by the many hazards hidden under the water, Mr. Bugelli managed to reach the resisting victim. Exhausted, and feeling the numbing effects of the frigid water, Mr. Bugelli brought the victim to safety.
