Dear Frank and Alma,
Rec'd your letter of May 14th about June 5th. Will write a few lines. I fell alseep last night writting to Helen. Do you see her very much? It's kind of hard to write a letter anymore. I can't seem to think of much to write. I think of everyone at home everyday and wonder what you all are doing. Up until just recently we have been keeping very busy. Almost like wotking at O.P.S, if you know what I mean.
The weather is about the same. Hot days and fairly cool nights.
Have been to a popular town once and another twice. Not much in town we buy eggs etc. and swing back to camp and

have fried, poached eggs. We also but them from the natives. They are good. They have a thin shell however.
It was pretty dusty here today. The ground is covered with rocks, and I mean covered. You think they were fertilizer, there are so many. I'd like to work piece work turning my ankle. I do it thousands of times a day.
Frank for ______ sake if you have to go, get in the Navy. With your engineers license you'll get a darn good rating. When I think of how I screwed up. I could have hit the sky. By the way we have pretty sunsets here but i reckon you have them there too. Ha Ha
(page 3)
It looks like it might rain to nite. We have had one since being here. It turned to hail and didn't last long. It really came down while it lasted.
We didn't get too much from the PX. We are rationed. This week I got 8 cig., Old Golds, 3 gum, 3 life savers and our needs. No chocolate candy (hint)
They have the band out playing a little swing music at present. Sounds darn good.
We get lemonade in the evening dished out by the Red Cross. It doesn't happen every nite tho in our area. We also have a show once in a while. I think there have been three. We are not always able to see the tho.

So Shunky was home. How did he look. Helen said he was about bald headed. He's been in a hundred combatants. How many planes has he shot down. He's a first Looey now. I'll never forget the day he came to school with that skunk perfume all over home. He got sent home pronto. What's the news from the rest of the boys?
They are lining up for lemonade now. Well had better sign off. ha ha. Think Ill poach some eggs later on. Thanks for your letters and keep the coming.
Write on both sides
Love, Brother Chuck
P.S. I am O.K. and I hope this letter finds you folks that way too.
