Sunday Aug, 16
1942.
Dear Frank & Alma
Well here it is Sunday and for a change we have nothing to do. Last Sunday we were on duty 24 hours. Am sorry I haven't written sooner but that couldn't be helped. I can understand why the fellows that left before I did didn't write often now.
We had our first and last divisional parade yesterday. Watch for it in the Newsreel. I'm there on the outside file.
Our furloughs have been canceled until further notice. We expect to move out very shortly. Probably to N.C. You've probably read about our being the first airborne division in the U.S. We'll work like the Germans worked on the island of Crete. Fun huh?
I got a raise the first of Aug, I got $66 a month now. Pretty good business, no.
Tell Mrs Anderson I think someone is spoofing her, or she's spoofing herself. Over. Mid said you folks stopped by. Thats the first you folks saw the boys for quite a spell. Tell Frank I said to remember he has but three nephews. And for three like they I would see them more often.Relationships
