Mel Burr was born in Vernon, Ohio and Eleanor in Pennsylvania. Eleanor's family moved to Newton Falls in 1910 and she graduated from Newton Falls High School. Mel was always a grocer and the A and P 's butcher prior to buying the Golden Dawn grocery store in 1950. A successful semi pro boxer, Mel boxed under the name of "Butch Ryan". They have two children. Their store on Maple Blvd was sold in 1966 and burned within a few months. Picture was taken in 1955.Photograph Details
